Black and white, the tittle says it all. A classic look which when done right produces the most amazing result. Unfortunately, I’m not a fluent in the language of black and white, for that would require you think without colours. Still when I do load a roll of black and white film and give it my unwavering attention, I do produce images I like.

Norway XII was captured in Bergen during a vacation trip. The old car and the old buildings worked so nicely together with the black and white depiction provided by Ilford HP5. The pentagon shaped lens flare is just the final cherry on top.

M/S Elfkungen is an old ship from 1875 that is still operated in Trollhättan during the summers. This was captured a very rainy day on Ilford Hp5+. Fortunately, I remembered to wipe the water of the lens before Elfkungen came into view.

Hardly much need of a description here. Göteborg B&W II was captured on Ilford XP2 and is one of my earlier attempts at analogue black and white photography. I stood under the Essity building in Mölndal waiting for a tram to pass by

Cinestill! Either you hate cinestill or you love it, but no one can deny the particularities of this film stock. Cinestill 800T is originally motion picture film stock that is cut up and repackaged for still photography. As part of that process the remjet layer is removed to allow it to be processed in an ordinary still photography photo chemicals. Doing so makes the film susceptible to produce strong red halations (bloom or glow) around light sources. When used to one’s advantage I find that it can produce quite interesting results.

I think Cinestill is the first time I tried it and it did not disappoint. Transforming this night-time scene of Mölndals public transport centre into something very interesting.
#2
Mölndal by Cinestill II was created with the intention of creating more images in the same style as my original Cinestill work and take full advantage of all its the unique properties. The result is a scene of Mölndal centre where the strong red halations contrast the deep blue shadow
#3
Lindome III is an example how Cinestill and night photography combined can turn an unassuming image of a COOP store into something very different. Dark, gritty, and maybe sinister are all word I find fitting

Daylight colours are all about the pastel like colours the sadly discontinued Fuji 400H is capable of if exposed and processed for it. The gentle greens, pinks and reds against the light blue skies is everything I wanted from the film stock. Captured handheld on my Mamiya RZ67 (which was a chore but well worth it…)
#1
First of May III is a simple scene with beautiful cherry blossom captured in Göteborg on the first of May. The composition worked well, and it almost seems the entire scene is gently surrounding the centrally placed Volvo.
#2
Graffiti is an image of an official graffiti wall in Mölndal. With the simple lines, wonderful colours, and the perfectly placed artist I could simply not resist taking a photo.
#3
I captured summer lights II during a warm summer’s eve when the Rhododendrons blossomed. I can still remember the warm gentle breeze smelling of Honeysuckle (Kaprifol på Svenska).

Gaustatoppen is an extra ordinary Norwegian mountain located in Vestfold og Telemark county which I can recommend anyone to visit. The top of the mountain is accessible by means of a railway cart system that runs inside the mountain. Originally a NATO military installation that has since been surrendered to civilian hands and made available to the public.
Exiting the top station, you are greeted by these breath-taking views of the surrounding area. If you are to believe the brochure you could see a sixth of Norway given that the weather allows it. If we are to return to our ordinary programming and talk about the photos I can tell you that they are made on my Hasselblad 500 and shot on Kodak Ektar film.

Memories of summer is a series all about that golden warm sunlight that you find yourself longing after during the dark winter months. Looking at these, one can almost feel the gentle warming sensation of the summer sun upon your skin. These are shot on a Hasselblad 500 series camera, which produces these characteristic square images.

Harsh lights I was captured midday a very bright summer day not to far away from my home in Mölndal on Fujifilms now discontinued Fuji 400H.

Midsummer III, and IV are both unsurprisingly captured a Midsummers eve. They are made using Kodak Portra 400 and taken at a playground in Vänersborg.

As the days grows shorter and the light fades, my style of photography changes. With so little light the process of photography slows down. What would otherwise be a split-second capture grows into a carefully considered moment. When working with an old Mamiya RZ67 on a tripod slow and considerate is of the essence, as that camera is neither fast nor light in any sense of the word. Expect interesting man-made light sources contrasted by gritty and thick darkness.

Lundby II is shot on Hissingen, Gothenburg a rainy night on Kodak Portra 400.
#2
Lindome IV is shot as the name applies in Lindome just south of Gothenburg on a very cold December evening. Luckily I could warm up in a car between shots, for otherwise I think all the lubricants would have frozen in the camera. Made using Cinestill 800T and a special lens filter that tames the dominant red halation that Cinestill is known for.
#3
Lights in the mist is shot in Mölndal an incredibly misty evening on Cinestill 800T.

There are many beautiful views in Bohuslän, Västkusten is well regarded with reason. I'm especially fond of the exposed and windswept landscape of it's rocky coastline. One great example is Tjurpannan nature reserve located north of Grebbestad. I here visited my first, and so far only time, on a warm summer day. The rocky landscape basked in the heat of the summer sun and I still remember how it felt lying down to relax. I hope to return one day as I'm curious as how different this place would be a stormy autumn day.

Trams is such an inherent part of Gothenburg’s cityscape that an image of a tram is automatically a depiction of the city itself. Walk for just a bit and you will surely spot one, travel anywhere and you will most likely sit in one. For a photographer in Gothenburg, it is almost impossible to resist the urge to photograph one regardless how cliché the motive might at first appear. As one who have fallen for said urge my only justification must be: Surely you can’t fault that the depictions are numerous when the trams frequent everyday life? Here we see Line 2 as it reaches its destination and turning point, Mölndal. I waited underneath the Essity building for a tram to show up as I realized that building would provide a wonderful framing. The daylight flowing in contrast well with the shaded inside.

I arrived a bit early but stayed until dusk. It was not until then that the palette of the sky and the glow of the tree decoration truly made the image.

Of course, I proceeded to ordered a much needed “Korv o bröd” after the tram had passed.
Vänersborg is a series that arose almost by accident in my childhood’s town. Around Christmas each year, me and my mother have ended up taking a nighttime photo walk around central parts of town. So, by now I think you can almost call a tradition and it feels only natural to dedicate these to my wonderful mother.

Edsgatan has the rare (on here) honour of being a digital black and white photo and one of my very earliest images. I still feel that this image holds up, even after everything I learned practicing photography.
